Marquette Turner and it’s Observatory websites, collects information from our Users during the registration process and, occasionally, at other times. We try and make the process as rapid and straightforward as possible and we are grateful for the information our Users provide. The more accurate the information we receive from each User, the more specific we can be in our ongoing contact with them. This Privacy Policy sets out our information-gathering and dissemination practices for the Site.

Data Protection

The Site will comply with the relevant English Data Protection laws, so normally any personal details to be provided to us will not be disclosed to third parties outside Marquette Turner without the User’s consent. (please see paragraph 4 of the Terms, Data Protection).

Users should be aware and accept that, if Marquette Turner is requested by authorised third parties or regulatory or governmental agencies investigating illegal activities to provide information concerning Users activities whilst using the Site, the business shall do so.

Similarly, Marquette Turner will disclose Users’ personal data if Marquette Turner is compelled to do so by law. Marquette Turner reserves the right to notify or provide such information to the relevant authority if, in our sole opinion, Marquette Turner believe an emergency, illegal activity or some other reasonable basis exists for us doing so.

Marquette Turner reserves the right to store and use Users’ personal data solely for its own internal purposes and business further reserve the right to access, monitor and retrieve password-protected information in order to fulfill our obligations in these terms and conditions.

Uses of Registration Information

Registration information we receive from Users is used by Marquette Turner as follows:

(a) to allow us to ensure your continued access to the Site;
(b) to allow us to develop the site in ways that you will find relevant and interesting;
(c) to let us tell you about new material we have produced that is of relevant and interest to you;
(d) to provide our Sponsors with aggregate information about our User base and usage patterns.
When you register, you can choose not to be contacted by us in this way. Any of our Users can also contact us at any time to ask to be removed from our User list. If you wish to remove your details, you should contact us.

On registration, you will be provided with an opportunity to opt-out of receiving information from Marquette Turner and our partners and Sponsors.

Cookies

A cookie is a snippet of text that is sent from a website’s servers and stored on a web browser. Like most websites and search engines, Marquette Turner uses cookies in order to provide a better user experience and to serve relevant ads. Users should be aware that Marquette Turner uses cookies to:

Marquette Turner uses Google doubleclick & Smarty Ad cookie’s within our sites to serve more relevant ads across the web and limit the number of times a given ad is shown to you. When you visit a website, view an ad, or click an ad, this advertising cookie will appear in your browser as coming from the domain “doubleclick.net” or “smartyads.com”.

When the cookie is set on your browser, it allows Marquette Turner to gather information about your browser’s interaction with a given ad. This information gets recorded in a log that looks something like this:

The “time” field reflects the time the ad was displayed. The “ad placement id” and “ad id” identify the advertising campaign and the specific ad served. The “userid” is the display ad cookie that identifies the browser. The “client IP” reflects the user’s Internet Protocol (IP) address. A “referral URL” indicates the URL of the page where the ad was served. Our logs also record whether a user’s browser clicks or interacts with an ad.

This information helps Marquette Turner deliver ads that are relevant the user’s interests, control the number of times you see a given ad, and measure the effectiveness of ad campaigns.

In addition to cookies, tracking gifs may be set by Marquette Turner or third parties in respect of your use of the Site. Tracking gifs are small image files within the content of our site or the body of our newsletters so we or third parties can understand which parts of the website are visited or whether particular content is of interest.

Google Analytics:

Google Analytics uses first-party cookies to track visitor interactions. These cookies will appear in your cookie data within your browser under the following headers:
